Barnyard Sanctuary to host inaugural 5K Trail Blazer fundraiser
HOPE TOWNSHIP, N.J. (Warren County) — The Barnyard Sanctuary will host its inaugural 5K Trail Blazer fundraiser on June 27 at the nonprofit’s new home in Hope Township, with proceeds supporting the care of nearly 300 rescued animals.
The event will take place at 37 Swayze Mill Road and will feature options for participants to run, walk or hike the course. Registration is scheduled from 10 a.m. to 10:55 a.m., with the 5K beginning at 11 a.m. A community picnic will follow from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. Organizers have scheduled June 28 as a rain date.
The event is open to individuals and teams ages 12 and older. Participants will receive a custom finisher medal, and registration costs $25.
According to organizers, the fundraiser will be the first public event held at the sanctuary’s new property. Participants will travel through scenic trails, rolling hills, wildlife habitats and areas housing rescued animals while helping support the organization’s mission.
The Barnyard Sanctuary said it currently provides care for nearly 300 rescued animals and has rescued thousands of animals during its more than 16 years of operation. The organization focuses on animal rescue, education, conservation and community outreach.
In addition to event registration, the sanctuary is encouraging participants to raise additional funds through sponsorships and donations from friends, family members, coworkers and local businesses. Sponsorship recognition opportunities are available for donors who contribute at various fundraising levels.
Organizers are advising attendees to dress for the weather, bring identification, stay on marked trails and follow staff directions throughout the event. Visitors are also asked not to feed the animals, bring pets onto the property or enter restricted areas.
