SEA LIFE New Jersey celebrates World Cup with underwater soccer-themed dives

EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J. (Bergen County) — SEA LIFE New Jersey at American Dream is diving into World Cup excitement with a series of soccer-themed underwater experiences beginning this week.

Located just minutes from MetLife Stadium, where several FIFA World Cup 2026 matches will be played, the aquarium is marking the start of the tournament with special dives featuring costumed divers interacting with marine life inside its Ocean Exhibit.

During the underwater presentations, divers dressed in soccer attire will serve as referees, playfully issuing yellow and red cards to sharks, stingrays and other sea creatures while entertaining guests in the aquarium’s Ocean Tunnel.

Visitors will also have the opportunity to participate in the soccer-themed fun by taking photos with divers and receiving their own yellow or red card-themed selfie experience.

The special dives are scheduled for June 11, June 18 and June 23 at 10:30 a.m. inside the Ocean Tunnel.

The attraction’s Ocean Tunnel features aquatic exhibits alongside “fishified” versions of New York City landmarks, including the Empire Skate Building, Babbling Brook Bridge and FishLife Building. Guests can view schools of tropical fish, sharks, rays and other marine species while walking through the underwater exhibit.

The soccer-themed dives are part of a broader celebration as the New York-New Jersey region prepares to host eight FIFA World Cup 2026 matches, including the tournament final.
