RVCC Foundation Golf Classic raises more than $162,000 for scholarships, programs
BRANCHBURG TOWNSHIP, N.J. (Somerset County) — The Raritan Valley Community College Foundation raised $162,075 during its 22nd Annual RVCC Foundation Golf Classic, held June 15 at Neshanic Valley Golf Course.
The annual fundraiser, the foundation’s largest in-person event of the year, attracted 152 golfers representing businesses from Hunterdon and Somerset counties and beyond.
“This is always a popular event, as it brings people together in a beautiful setting for some networking and a little friendly competition—all in support of Raritan Valley Community College. We are grateful to all of our participants and our generous corporate sponsors, but especially our title sponsor this year, DeSesa Engineering,” said Mike Marion, executive director of the RVCC Foundation and RVCC Alumni Association.
In addition to supporting scholarships, educational programming and other college initiatives, the event raised $6,500 for the “FUEL THE RIDE” initiative, which benefits the RVCC Resource Center and Food Pantry.
The event highlighted student talent throughout the day. Sarah Stefaniak, a member of the Class of 2026, performed the national anthem, while Automotive Technology student Ethan Tassio addressed attendees during the dinner following the tournament.
Arts & Design student Aria Mongiello created an oil painting of the Neshanic Valley landscape during the event, and golfers received packs of blank note cards featuring artwork by fellow Arts & Design students Giavonna Lee, Delia McHendry, Kathryn O’Hara, Ashraf Maarouf, Maria Mejia, Yun Zhu and Alma Walker.
The tournament featured 56 corporate sponsors, including title sponsor DeSesa Engineering Co. Inc. and link sponsor LJS Electric.
The RVCC Foundation supports the college by providing resources beyond public funding and tuition to enhance academic programs, scholarships and strategic initiatives serving students in Somerset and Hunterdon counties.
