Police: Reported threat at Sussex County Walmart determined to be unfounded

FRANKLIN BOROUGH, N.J. (Sussex County) — A reported threat at the Walmart on Route 23 in Franklin Borough prompted a police response Monday evening, but authorities determined the incident was unfounded.

According to police, officers responded to the store after receiving a report of a threat.

Out of an abundance of caution, officers conducted a thorough investigation, including multiple searches of the property with assistance from local and county law enforcement agencies.

Police said no active threat was identified, and there was no danger to the public at any time.

The Franklin Borough Police Department thanked store employees and the community for their cooperation during the response.

Police said all reported threats are taken seriously and are fully investigated to help ensure public safety.
