VERNON TOWNSHIP, N.J. (Sussex County) — Mountain Creek Resort will host the Vernon community’s annual Independence Day fireworks celebration on Saturday, July 4, featuring live entertainment, family activities and fireworks to benefit local volunteer first responders.
Festivities will take place from 6 to 10 p.m. on the Great Lawn outside Red Tail Lodge at Mountain Creek Resort, 200 Route 94. The fireworks display is scheduled to begin at 9:30 p.m.
Guests can enjoy live music by the alternative rock band Emotional Damage, food from the Biergarten, local vendors, a petting zoo, bounce houses and lawn games, including cornhole and giant pong.
The resort’s Cabriolet Sky Ride will operate until 8 p.m. and is included with admission. The Alpine Mountain Coaster will also be open until 8 p.m., with tickets sold separately online.
A $20 parking fee will be collected by the participating Vernon, McAfee, Highland Lakes and Pochuck Valley volunteer fire departments. Resort officials said 100% of the parking proceeds will benefit the volunteer fire organizations.
According to Mountain Creek, the annual event raised more than $20,000 for local volunteer fire departments in 2025, with additional proceeds supporting Vernon Emergency Medical Services. The funding helps support the volunteer organizations that serve the community throughout the year.
Guests are encouraged to bring picnic blankets and lawn chairs.
