Body found in burning vehicle near Willowbrook Mall in Wayne

WAYNE TOWNSHIP, N.J. (Passaic County) — Authorities are investigating after a body was discovered inside a burning vehicle Tuesday near Willowbrook Mall, officials said.

According to Passaic County Prosecutor Camelia M. Valdes and Wayne Police Chief Joseph Rooney, Wayne police officers responded June 30 to the area of 77 Willowbrook Blvd. on a report of a vehicle fire.

When officers arrived, they found the body of an unidentified person in the driver’s seat of the vehicle.

The deceased has not been identified. Authorities said the Passaic County Medical Examiner’s Office is conducting an investigation to determine the cause of death.

Although the investigation remains active and ongoing, officials said there are no suspects being sought at this time and there is no danger to the public.
