NJDEP Fish & Wildlife to offer free summer fishing workshops in Hackettstown

HACKETTSTOWN, N.J. (Warren County) — The New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection’s Fish & Wildlife Division is inviting residents to learn the basics of freshwater fishing through a series of free workshops this summer at the Hackettstown State Fish Hatchery.

The workshops, held at the hatchery at 23 Reese Ave., are designed to introduce participants to fishing skills while encouraging outdoor recreation.

Family Fishing Workshops for families with children ages 8 and older are scheduled for July 11, July 24 and Aug. 21.

A Women’s Fishing Workshop for women ages 18 and older will be held Aug. 9.

While the workshops are free, participants between the ages of 16 and 69 are required to have a valid 2026 New Jersey Freshwater Fishing License to participate.

Advance registration is required for all workshops. Additional information and registration are available through the NJDEP Fish & Wildlife R3 Fishing Program at https://dep.nj.gov/njfw/education/r3-fishing-program/.
