MOUNT OLIVE TOWNSHIP, N.J. (Morris County) — Mount Olive Township officials recently met with the owner of the former Trading Post property to discuss redevelopment plans that would bring a new retail space to the Route 46 corridor while preserving elements of the site’s history.
Mayor Joe Nicastro said he, Business Administrator Andrew Tatarenko and Planning Department representative Sara Murphy met with the property owner at Town Hall as part of the township’s ongoing efforts to revitalize the Route 46 corridor.
According to Nicastro, the owner presented plans for a new Trading Post retail building that would recognize the property’s history by incorporating original features of the iconic landmark whenever possible.
The original Trading Post was a longtime fixture in Mount Olive.
Nicastro said township officials will continue working with property owners along the Route 46 corridor to encourage redevelopment and improve the area.
“I will continue meeting with property owners to explore opportunities to revitalize Route 46 while we also work to advance important traffic and pedestrian safety improvements throughout the corridor,” Nicastro said.
