TITUSVILLE, N.J. (Mercer County) — The 16th annual Briarwood Derby Day raised $25,000 for Hunterdon Regional Cancer Center, bringing riders, families and supporters together to help fund programs and services for local cancer patients.
The fundraising event was held June 7 at Duncraven Stables and was hosted by Katie Benson in memory of her late husband, Jack Benson.
The annual equestrian event allows spectators and supporters to make real-time pledges that directly benefit cancer care and support services provided through Hunterdon Regional Cancer Center.
Breast cancer survivor Lauren Gould was the event’s top fundraiser, collecting $5,000. Her employer, Sanofi, matched the donation dollar for dollar, bringing her total fundraising impact to $10,000.
Gould, who boards her horse, Evening Gown, known as “Evie,” at Van Dolah Stables in Stockton, said the cause is deeply personal and credited her bond with the horse for helping her through her cancer journey.
Now in its 16th year, Briarwood Derby Day continues to combine equestrian competition with charitable fundraising, turning personal tributes into support for patients receiving cancer care in the Hunterdon County region.
