Mount Arlington police launch Neighbor to Neighbor program for senior wellness check-ins

MOUNT ARLINGTON BOROUGH, N.J. (Morris County) — The Mount Arlington Police Department has launched a new Neighbor to Neighbor Program to provide weekly phone check-ins for senior residents and offer peace of mind to their families.

Police said the program was inspired by similar initiatives implemented by law enforcement agencies across New Jersey and is designed to help seniors maintain regular communication through friendly weekly phone calls.

The calls may be made by a Mount Arlington police officer or by a community volunteer who has successfully completed a background check.

According to the department, the program aims to help seniors stay connected while giving loved ones reassurance that someone is checking in on them on a regular basis.

Residents can participate by volunteering to make a weekly phone call, requesting to be added to the call list or enrolling a loved one who lives in Mount Arlington.

The department is also seeking volunteers interested in serving as “good neighbors” by making weekly calls to participants.
