Man charged with terroristic threats, resisting arrest after incident at Morris County hotel

HANOVER TOWNSHIP, N.J. (Morris County) — A 68-year-old Randolph man faces several charges following a disturbance at a Hanover Township hotel, according to police.

Hanover Township police responded to the Extended Stay America on July 25 for a report of a man acting irate and out of control. When officers arrived, they found a man at the front desk pointing and yelling at an employee, police said.

Officers attempted to calm the man, identified as Mark Kwiatkoski, but were unsuccessful and escorted him outside, according to police. Authorities said Kwiatkoski then directed his anger toward officers and refused to provide his identity.

Police told Kwiatkoski he was under arrest, at which point he allegedly began pulling away from officers. He was taken to the ground and handcuffed while continuing to resist arrest, police said.

Kwiatkoski sustained minor abrasions to his face and knee during the incident and was taken by ambulance to a hospital for evaluation, accompanied by an officer, according to police.

Kwiatkoski was charged with disorderly conduct, terroristic threats, obstruction, hindering and resisting arrest, according to police.

After being cleared at the emergency room, Kwiatkoski was lodged in the Morris County Jail pending a detention hearing.
