
One killed, two injured in head-on crash on Route 31 in Mercer County
HOPEWELL TOWNSHIP, N.J. (Mercer County) — One person was killed and two others seriously injured Tuesday in a head-on collision involving a car and a tractor trailer on Route 31, authorities said.
Hopewell Township Police responded to the crash at 12:07 p.m. on North Route 31 between Titus Mill Road and Hopewell Pennington Road. A Honda Civic traveling southbound reportedly veered out of its lane and collided head-on with a tractor trailer, according to the initial investigation.
The Honda Civic had three occupants — a driver and two passengers. All three sustained serious injuries and were transported to a nearby hospital. One of the occupants later died from injuries sustained in the crash.
The identities of those involved have not been released.
Responding agencies included Hopewell Valley Emergency Services, Pennington Fire Company, Hopewell Fire Company/EMS, Capital Health Paramedics, the New Jersey State Police, and the Mercer County Prosecutor’s Office.
The incident remains under investigation by the Hopewell Township Police Department and the Mercer County Prosecutor’s Office Serious Collision Response Team.
