Route 22 westbound lane to close for two weeks in Lopatcong Township

LOPATCONG TOWNSHIP, N.J. (Warren County) — A westbound lane of Route 22 is scheduled to be closed for approximately two weeks beginning Friday night in Lopatcong as crews perform bridge deck and parapet repairs, according to the New Jersey Department of Transportation.

Beginning at 8 p.m. Friday, Aug. 14, and continuing until 8 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 29, a single lane of Route 22 westbound is scheduled to be closed between Rand Boulevard and the point where Route 57 westbound merges with Route 22 westbound.

At least one westbound lane will remain open during the work.

The right lane is expected to close Friday night for approximately one week. Once the right lane reopens next week, the left lane is expected to close for approximately one week, NJDOT said.

The closures are necessary for bridge deck and parapet repairs on the bridges over the railroad tracks and Route 57 eastbound.

Once the westbound repairs are completed, lane closures also are planned on Route 22 eastbound. NJDOT said it will provide advance notice before those closures begin.

Motorists are advised to slow down, use caution and expect delays while traveling through the work zone.

The work is part of the $10 million Route 22, Broad Street to Interstate 78 resurfacing and intersection improvement project.

The project includes milling and paving approximately five miles of Route 22 eastbound from Miller Street to the I-78 interchange, resurfacing ramps to and from I-78 and upgrading traffic signals at eight intersections.

Portable variable message signs are being used to notify motorists of traffic pattern changes associated with the project.
