Congressman Kean, Commerce Secretary Lutnick tour Magna-Power Electronics in Hunterdon County
RARITAN TOWNSHIP, N.J. (Hunterdon County) — U.S. Rep. Tom Kean Jr. and Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnick recently visited Magna-Power Electronics in Hunterdon County to tour the company’s manufacturing operations and highlight American-made technology and manufacturing.
Magna-Power Electronics, founded in 1981 by Ira Pitel, operates its engineering and manufacturing operations at its Flemington facility in Raritan Township. The company produces high-power direct current power processing systems and maintains vertically integrated, in-house production.
The company serves national laboratories, industry and universities worldwide.
“New Jersey is home to cutting-edge manufacturers like Magna Power that are proving American-made technology can compete with anyone in the world,” said Congressman Kean. “I am working to strengthen that advantage by supporting our manufacturers, growing well-paying jobs, and making sure the next generation of innovation is developed and built right here in America. Bringing Secretary Lutnick to Hunterdon County was an opportunity to showcase the incredible work being done in our district and reinforce my commitment to making New Jersey a leader in American manufacturing.”
Magna-Power CEO Adam Pitel said the company’s decision to manufacture its products domestically has become an advantage.
“We chose the hard road forty-five years ago: make it yourself, in America,” said Magna-Power CEO Adam Pitel. “Today that decision is our biggest advantage. Vertical integration means our lead times, our quality, and our intellectual property stay in New Jersey. We were honored to show Secretary Lutnick and Congressman Kean what high-technology manufacturing looks like in New Jersey. They saw new machinery, growing headcount, and a backlog of American-made programmable DC power supplies. Good policy gave us room to invest, and we took it: new machinery, new hires, and a bigger R&D program, all right here.”
Hunterdon County Commissioner Director John E. Lanza pointed to the company as an example of advanced manufacturing in the county.

Lanza. “Their continued growth and creation of highly skilled jobs demonstrate that world-class American manufacturing can thrive right here in Hunterdon County.”
Hunterdon County Chamber of Commerce President Christopher J. Phelan also participated in the visit.

Peter Connolly, CEO of the New Jersey Manufacturing Extension Program Inc., said the visit gave manufacturers an opportunity to discuss their challenges directly with federal officials.

CEO Peter Connolly. “Magna-Power in particular is a great example of what American manufacturing can accomplish, with a supply chain that is exclusively Made in the USA. Congressman Kean has consistently supported NJMEP and the manufacturers in his district, and we appreciate him including us in this opportunity to engage directly with the Secretary. As the leader of the Department of Commerce, which oversees the MEP National Network, Secretary Lutnick’s willingness to listen and learn firsthand from manufacturers is especially important as we work together to strengthen manufacturing here in New Jersey and across the country.”
Raritan Township Committeeman Scott Sipos said the company is an example of local American manufacturing.
