Washington Celebrates America seeking grand marshal nominations for July Fourth parade

WASHINGTON BOROUGH, N.J. (Warren County) — Organizers of the annual Washington Celebrates America Fourth of July Parade are seeking nominations for this year’s grand marshal.

The community group announced that individuals, couples, partners and families may be nominated for the honor, which recognizes people who have made significant contributions to the Washington area.

The selection committee will consider nominees who have demonstrated outstanding service to the community, including involvement in volunteer work, service organizations, successful business achievements and charitable contributions to local nonprofit groups.

Organizers said individuals who have earned national recognition in fields such as entertainment, athletics, innovation or public service may also be considered.

Nominees do not have to be current Washington residents. However, organizers said priority will be given to those who have spent significant time living, working or volunteering in the Washington community.

Residents submitting nominations are encouraged to provide detailed information explaining why their nominee deserves the honor.

The grand marshal will lead the borough’s annual Fourth of July parade, a centerpiece of Washington’s Independence Day celebration.

Nominations can be submitted online through the Washington Celebrates America nomination form.
