Warren County woman charged with disorderly conduct, resisting arrest at Hanover Township hotel

HANOVER TOWNSHIP, N.J. (Morris County) — An 18-year-old Phillipsburg woman was charged after police responded to a disturbance at a Hanover Township hotel last month, according to police.

Maliaha Morris was arrested Aug. 16 and charged with disorderly conduct, obstruction and resisting arrest, police said.

Officers responded to the Hyatt House on Ridgedale Avenue after receiving a report of a teenage female attempting to enter a room.

Police said Morris was intoxicated and had been involved in a disagreement with a relative. She was allegedly attempting to enter the room to retrieve car keys.

According to police, Morris was being loud and disorderly in the hallway and was told multiple times to be quiet because it was late and she was disturbing other hotel guests.

Police said Morris then attempted to walk away while continuing to create a disturbance and was told she was under arrest. She allegedly resisted as officers attempted to place her in handcuffs but was ultimately taken into custody.

Morris was transported to police headquarters for processing and later released with a court date.
