RARITAN TOWNSHIP, N.J. (Hunterdon County) — Blue Sky DEF celebrated the grand opening of its new 58,000-square-foot manufacturing facility in Raritan Township last week, marking an expansion of the company’s operations and continued investment in Hunterdon County.

The ribbon-cutting ceremony was held Wednesday, Oct. 21, with members of the Hunterdon County Board of County Commissioners joining company owners Gino and Robert Arbasetti to recognize the milestone. Founded in New Jersey in 2010, Blue Sky DEF is a manufacturer and supplier of diesel exhaust fluid, commonly known as DEF, which is used in selective catalytic reduction systems to reduce nitrogen oxide emissions from diesel engines. The company maintains its headquarters in New Jersey and serves customers throughout the region and beyond.

Diesel exhaust fluid is used in modern diesel-powered vehicles and equipment to help control emissions by converting harmful nitrogen oxides into less harmful substances through the vehicle’s exhaust treatment system. According to the company, the technology can reduce harmful emissions by up to 90% while improving fuel efficiency by as much as 8%.

The new Flemington facility is expected to support the company’s manufacturing, distribution and logistical operations, providing additional space for its growing business. County officials also highlighted the facility’s proximity to existing transportation infrastructure, including a nearby rail corridor maintained by the Black River and Western Railroad.

Hunterdon County officials said the expansion reflects the importance of manufacturing and distribution businesses to the regional economy. The county has continued to emphasize business expansion, workforce opportunities and long-term economic development as priorities for supporting local industries.

The opening also highlights the role of companies developing products intended to help industries meet environmental requirements while maintaining commercial operations. Blue Sky DEF’s products are used in diesel engines across transportation and other sectors where emissions-control systems are required.

County commissioners described the new facility as another investment in Hunterdon County’s business community, recognizing the Arbasetti family’s continued commitment to operating and expanding the company in New Jersey.
