Man charged with DWI after vehicle overturns in Mount Olive
MOUNT OLIVE TOWNSHIP, N.J. (Morris County) — A Budd Lake man was charged with DWI after his vehicle went off the road and overturned in Mount Olive Township early Sunday morning, according to police.
At about 12:36 a.m. Sunday, Sept. 6, police responded to Mount Olive Road for a report of a motor vehicle crash.
When police arrived, they found a white GMC that had left the roadway and overturned near 119 Mount Olive Road. The driver, identified as James G. Baccaro Jr., 44, of Budd Lake, was not injured and was standing outside the vehicle, police said.
While speaking with Baccaro, police said the officer detected the odor of an alcoholic beverage and observed signs that Baccaro appeared to be impaired.
Baccaro refused field sobriety testing and was placed under arrest, according to police.
He was transported to police headquarters and charged with DWI, reckless driving and failure to maintain lane.
Baccaro was released to a sober driver pending a court hearing.
