HANOVER TOWNSHIP, N.J. (Morris County) — Two people were injured after a crane being hauled on a truck struck a bridge support beam and fell from its trailer onto an SUV on Interstate 287 Wednesday morning in Hanover Township, according to New Jersey State Police.
Troopers responded to I-287 south at milepost 39.8 in Hanover Township at about 7:40 a.m., according to State Police spokesman Trooper II Christopher Postorino.
A preliminary investigation determined a Mack truck was hauling a crane on a trailer when the crane struck a bridge overpass support beam, Postorino said.
Following the collision, the crane fell from the trailer and struck a Volvo SUV.
The driver and passenger of the Volvo sustained minor injuries and were taken to an area hospital, police said.
The crash remains under investigation, and no additional information is available.
