I-78 westbound Express E-ZPass lane closures scheduled for early December

The Delaware River Joint Toll Bridge Commission’s Express E-ZPass facility for the I-78 Toll Bridge is expected to have a series of lane closures during the first two weeks of December.

The westbound-direction lane closures will enable construction crews to repair a series of cracked concrete roadway slabs before winter weather sets in.

The highway-speed electronic toll facility’s two travel lanes will be closed during weeknights (Mondays through Fridays) between the hourse of 7:00 p.m. and 8:00 a.m. (next day). The facility will reopen with a single operational lane during daytime hours — 8:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. — on weekdays and weekends.

When the Express E-ZPass facility is fully shutdown or partially shutdown, the adjoining toll-both facility will be open to handle E-ZPass transactions as well as cash and TOLL BY PLATE (license plate billing by mail) transactions.

The temporary travel restrictions at the I-78 Express E-ZPass facility are expected to end by the morning of December 14.

The Commission’s I-78 toll facility is roughly two miles west of the I-78 Toll Bridge near Easton, PA. The two Express E-ZPass lanes handle the bulk of toll transactions at that location. Roughly 85 percent of the toll transaction at that location are paid through E-ZPass.
