HACKETTSTOWN, N.J. (Warren County) — Rainy weather and the cancellation of the outdoor street fair did not stop people from coming out for Hackettstown’s Oktoberfest celebration over the weekend.
The annual event, organized by the Hackettstown Business Improvement District, marked its 10th anniversary this year.
Organizers canceled the street fair portion of the event because of concerns about expected high winds, which made it unsafe to set up nearly 100 vendors, tents and other temporary structures along the streets.
Despite the cancellation, many of the festivities planned at individual businesses continued Saturday and Sunday, with adjustments made to some outdoor activities.
Events were held at Czig Meister Brewing Company, Man Skirt Brewing, Living Spirits Distillery and Stella G’s.
Saturday’s festivities included the traditional barrel tapping at Czig Meister Brewing Company with Mayor Jerry DiMaio, along with live music, stein-holding competitions, Oktoberfest-themed food and other activities throughout town.
The celebration continued Sunday with brunch, live music, stein-holding competitions and other Oktoberfest activities.
Despite the rain, people continued to come downtown throughout the weekend to take part in the festivities and support participating businesses.
