
2 women found shot to death inside Somerset County home; man found dead with apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound
MONTGOMERY TOWNSHIP, N.J. (Somerset County) — Authorities are investigating after two women were found shot to death in separate bedrooms of a Montgomery Township home Friday evening and a man was found dead inside the residence with what appeared to be a self-inflicted gunshot wound.
According to Somerset County Prosecutor John P. McDonald, Montgomery Township police received a call at about 2:59 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 1, requesting a check on the occupants of a residence on Wild Azalea Lane.
Officers responded to the home but were unable to contact the occupants and began investigating their whereabouts.
At about 5:52 p.m. Friday, Oct. 2, officers were able to enter the residence. While checking the home, police discovered two adult women dead in separate bedrooms. Both appeared to have suffered gunshot wounds, authorities said.
An adult man was also found dead inside the residence with what appeared to be a self-inflicted gunshot wound. Authorities said the man was found in possession of a firearm.
All three were pronounced dead at the scene by medical personnel from Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital Somerset.
Detectives from the Montgomery Township Police Department and Somerset County Prosecutor’s Office Major Crimes Unit and Crime Scene Investigation Unit responded to investigate along with medical investigators from the New Jersey Northern Regional Medical Examiner’s Office.
Postmortem examinations are scheduled to positively identify the three individuals and determine their causes and manners of death.
Authorities have not released their identities pending positive identification by the medical examiner’s office.
