Project Self-Sufficiency to host free Mommy Parties in Sussex and Warren counties in November
NEWTON, N.J. (Sussex County) — Pregnant women and mothers of young children are invited to attend free monthly educational gatherings hosted by Project Self-Sufficiency in Sussex and Warren counties this November.
The events, known as Mommy Parties, offer information on early childhood development and maternal-child health while providing opportunities for mothers to connect with other parents. Each gathering includes food, educational discussions and interactive activities for mothers and children.
The Sussex County Mommy Party will take place Wednesday, Nov. 11, at noon at Project Self-Sufficiency in Newton. The Warren County gathering is scheduled for Tuesday, Nov. 17, at 11 a.m. at Trinity United Methodist Church in Hackettstown. Both events are free and open to the public.
The Warren County gatherings are scheduled to coincide with visits from Project Self-Sufficiency’s mobile services vehicle, Journey, which travels to the Hackettstown location twice each month to provide access to the agency’s services.
“These monthly gatherings invite women in Sussex and Warren Counties to forge relationships with others in similar circumstances while learning crucial parenting skills and connecting with resources for additional support,” commented Project Self-Sufficiency Chief Executive Office Deborah Berry-Toon. “We are grateful to be able to offer an opportunity for these families to gain the information and resources they need to become successful parents.”
The Mommy Parties are part of Project Self-Sufficiency’s broader efforts to support pregnant women and parents of young children throughout Sussex and Warren counties. The organization also offers home visitation programs, monthly Baby Beginnings Fairs, semiannual Pregnancy & Infancy Summits and Parent Cafes.
Through these programs, Project Self-Sufficiency works to connect families with parenting education, community resources and additional support during pregnancy and the early years of childhood.
