Flemington-Raritan First Aid and Rescue Squad, HealthQuest holds 4th annual rescue truck pull

RARITAN TOWNSHIP, NJ (Hunterdon County) The Flemington-Raritan First Aid and Rescue Squad and HealthQuest Saturday morning held their fourth annual Rescue Truck Pull, located at HealthQuest in Raritan Township.

Recent years have seen numerous additions to the event, both in terms of the main competition and other attractions. For the first time, competitors could choose between several divisions, including the Classic Division (12 person teams), the Women’s Division (12-woman teams), and the Elite Division (6 person teams).

Outside of the competition, there was a DJ, coffee, a mobile pizza oven, and a US Army Blackhawk helicopter, which was open for display.

Numerous teams led by HealthQuest’s personal trainers, local gyms, and emergency services departments joined the competition. Overall, there were approximately 14 adult teams.

Squad members competed in each of the three competitive divisions. Competing in the classic division were James Breuer, Roger Finley, Noah Conk, Justin Dorflinger, John Witt, Collin Merz, Tyler Evans, Gavin Stager, Tyler Sarich, Frank Emanuele, Matt Hoffman, and Steve Indoe. The Women’s Division included Lily Fatooh, Avery Rounsaville, Becky Hoffman, Kate Moran, Tonya Gruchacz, joined by several other female first responders, healthcare providers, and community leaders. Competing in the Elite Division were Justin Dorflinger, Andrew Glowacki, Gavin Stager, Billy Pandos, and Dylan Beyer, joined by HMC paramedic Mark Mason. The Squad’s Truck Pull Committee was chaired by members Andrew Glowacki and Kate Moran, and the truck was driven by Gary Breuer.

Over thirty squad members total competed, assisted in running the event, or attended the event as a spectator with friends and family.

The Kids’ Pull returned larger than ever with five teams of youngsters (grouped together based on age) pulling the Squad’s brand new Car 495, a 2022 Chevy 3500, which was received by the Squad earlier this month. The event marks the first outing for the new Car 495, and the first time it was on display in the community. In addition to the new vehicle, several ambulances, Special Services 495 (“The Storm Truck”), Technical Rescue 495 (“The Mack”), and of course Heavy Rescue 495 were on display.

“Thank you to everyone who attended and competed – we don’t know exactly how we’re going to make Truck Pull bigger and better than ever in 2023, but we’re already looking forward to it,” Flemington-Raritan First Aid and Rescue Squad said.
