Aerial larvicide operation to take place on May 19 in parts of Morris County

MORRIS COUNTY, NJ – The Morris County Division of Mosquito Control will conduct an aerial larvicide operation by helicopter on Monday, May 19, starting at approximately 7:00 a.m. and continuing until completion, officials said. While they anticipate finishing the operation on Monday, weather and other factors could extend it into Tuesday, May 20.

The operation is being carried out in cooperation with the State Mosquito Control Commission and the New Jersey Office of Mosquito Control Coordination.

The product being used is VectoPrime FG (EPA Registration #73049-501), a fine granular larvicide applied over standing water to target mosquito larvae before they mature into flying adults. This treatment does not affect adult mosquitoes.

The helicopter application will take place in the following municipalities:

  • Chatham Borough
  • Chatham Township
  • East Hanover Township
  • Florham Park Borough
  • Hanover Township
  • Lincoln Park Borough
  • Montville Township
  • Parsippany-Troy Hills

Officials noted that they cannot provide exact timing for treatments in individual towns.
