Amazon hiring 250,000 workers for holiday season across U.S.

Amazon is gearing up for the busy holiday season by hiring 250,000 full-time, part-time, and seasonal employees across its fulfillment and transportation network nationwide, the company announced.

The positions offer average pay of $23 per hour for regular employees and over $19 per hour for seasonal workers. Jobs will be posted weekly from October through December at hiring.amazon.com, with many seasonal roles filling within minutes, the company said.

Amazon described its seasonal jobs as opportunities that meet “different needs for so many different people.” For some, the roles provide extra income for the holidays, while for others, they serve as a first step toward a long-term career. Many full-time Amazon managers and trainers began as seasonal employees, the company said.

Seasonal workers can take advantage of flexible scheduling and on-the-job training, while regular full-time employees receive benefits including health care and access to the company’s Career Choice program, which pre-pays tuition for college degrees or certificates. Amazon said employees who stay for at least three years have seen an average pay increase of 18%.

The company is investing more than $1 billion this year to enhance pay and benefits for fulfillment and transportation workers, bringing the average total compensation to more than $30 per hour when including elected benefits.

“We look forward to welcoming 250,000 new teammates to our operations network,” the company said in a statement. “Together, we will continue building a workplace where today’s opportunities can grow into tomorrow’s careers.”
