Assemblyman John DiMaio reelected as Assembly Republican leader
TRENTON, N.J. — Assemblyman John DiMaio was elected Thursday by Assembly Republicans to continue serving as minority leader for the upcoming legislative session.
“I am honored and privileged to continue to lead the Assembly Republicans. Now more than ever, New Jersey families, seniors and businesses struggling under decades of Democrat control need us to be their voice in Trenton. We will hold Democrats accountable and pressure the majority party to lower costs and taxes, increase reliable energy generation to help ratepayers, and fairly fund schools,” DiMaio (R-Warren) said. “We have a lot of work ahead of us, but we are in it for the long haul and will fight for the future of New Jersey.”
The Assembly Republican Conference also elected Assemblyman Antwan McClellan to remain as deputy minority leader, Assemblyman Christopher DePhillips as conference leader, and Assemblyman Brian Rumpf to serve as the new budget officer. Assemblyman Rob Clifton, previously assistant minority leader, was promoted to senior leadership. Assemblyman Brian Bergen will continue as minority whip, and Assemblywoman Victoria Flynn will replace Rumpf as parliamentarian.
“I am humbled to be entrusted to serve as deputy minority leader of this conference. Assembly Republicans have a great responsibility to protect the state and our nine million residents from misguided and far-left agendas. We are ready to get to work to ensure New Jersey prioritizes its people over partisan politics,” McClellan (R-Cape May) said.
