
Authorities investigate unattended death at Somerset County residence
BRIDGEWATER TOWNSHIP, N.J. (Somerset County) — Authorities are investigating the unattended death of an individual found in a residence on Crawford Court in Bridgewater Township, Somerset County Prosecutor John P. McDonald announced Thursday.
According to McDonald, Bridgewater Township police officers were dispatched at approximately 1:07 p.m. Wednesday, June 11, in response to a 911 call requesting a welfare check at the home. Upon entering the residence, officers discovered an individual in advanced stages of decomposition. The person was pronounced dead at the scene.
Detectives from the Bridgewater Police Department, the Somerset County Prosecutor’s Office Major Crimes Unit, and the Crime Scene Investigation Unit, along with investigators from the New Jersey Northern Regional Medical Examiner’s Office, responded to the residence to conduct the investigation.
Officials said there are no identified threats to the public in connection with the case.
The death remains under investigation pending positive identification, as well as autopsy and toxicology reports from the medical examiner’s office.
