Authorities investigating after body found in Musconetcong River in Hunterdon County

HOLLAND TOWNSHIP, NJ – Authorities are investigating after a body was found in Musconetcong River in Holland Township, according to the Hunterdon County Prosecutor’s Office.

On Sunday, Oct. 27, at around 5:15 p.m., police responded to a report of a body found in the Musconetcong River after a fisherman discovered it in a shallow section while fishing in the area, officials said.

Members of the Hunterdon County Prosecutor’s Office arrived at the scene, along with the Holland Township Volunteer Fire Company, which provided assistance, authorities said.

Initial investigations indicate that the deceased individual had been in the water for several weeks prior to being located. As of now, the gender and identity of the deceased have not been determined, and the circumstances surrounding the death remain under investigation, the prosecutor’s office said.
