Man charged with attempted burglary in Hunterdon County

CLINTON TOWNSHIP, N.J. (Hunterdon County) — A Union County man was arrested earlier this month after residents reported he was allegedly trying to break into homes and vehicles in a local housing development in Clinton Township, according to Clinton Township Police Chief Thomas A. DeRosa.

Cesar S. Franco, 27, of Summit was taken into custody on May 5 after officers responded to multiple 911 calls about a suspicious person attempting to gain entry to several residences and parked vehicles.

When police arrived, they located Franco in the development’s parking lot. A resident provided officers with doorbell camera footage allegedly showing Franco attempting to force his way into both a home and a vehicle.

A second resident later gave police additional doorbell footage that appeared to show Franco trying to break into her residence as well.

Franco was charged with attempted burglary and disorderly conduct. He was released pending a court date.
