Boil water advisory lifted in Mount Olive Township

MOUNT OLIVE TOWNSHIP, NJ (Morris County) – The boil water advisory that was issued following a water main break on Monday has been lifted, according to Mount Olive Township Administrator Andrew Tatarenko. The advisory was put in place due to a loss of water pressure in the Overlook Development.

The affected areas included:

  • Overlook Apartments
  • Chestnut Way & Red Maple Lane
  • Rt. 206 from Main Street to Bartley-Flanders Road

After extensive repairs to the water main and thorough water quality testing, it is now safe to use water without boiling it. However, the township recommends the following precautionary measures:

  • Run your cold-water faucets for 3-5 minutes to flush out your service connection and plumbing.
  • Empty and clean your automatic ice makers and water chillers.
  • Drain and refill your hot water heater if the temperature is set below 113°F.
  • For homes with water softeners or cartridge filters, run the system through a regeneration cycle or follow manufacturer-recommended procedures.
  • Water reservoirs in tall buildings should be drained and refilled.
