Brush fire along wood line at Hunterdon county archery range quickly contained

UNION TOWNSHIP, N.J. (Hunterdon County) — Firefighters quickly contained a brush fire Tuesday afternoon along a wood line at the Division of Fish and Wildlife Archery Range off Route 173 in Union Township, officials said.

The Pattenburg Volunteer Fire Company was dispatched around 4:40 p.m. to the archery range property after reports of a brush fire burning along the wooded area, with about 50 feet of grass also burning in a nearby field.

Upon arrival, the incident commander requested additional resources, including another brush truck and a water tanker, to assist in controlling the fire.

Firefighters from multiple departments responded, allowing crews to quickly knock down the flames and contain the fire before it could spread further into the surrounding woods.

Officials said the strong response from area departments helped bring the situation under control quickly.

No injuries were reported, and the cause of the fire was not immediately released.
