CCM to host free spring music, dance performances

RANDOLPH TOWNSHIP, N.J. (Morris County) — County College of Morris will present a series of free live music and dance performances this spring, featuring faculty, students and industry professionals.

The lineup, organized by the Marielaine Mammon School of Music, Performing Arts and Music Technologies, begins Feb. 24 with a “Tech Talk” by five-time Emmy Award-winning mixing engineer Matt Rifino. The event is scheduled for 12:30 p.m. in the Marielaine Mammon Black Box Theatre in the Music Technology Center.

Rifino, who previously worked at Avatar Studios, also known as The Power Station, serves as the broadcast music mixer for NBC’s “Today” show. He has mixed more than 4,000 performances by nearly 1,500 artists, including Adele, Bon Jovi, Fleetwood Mac and Taylor Swift. During his presentation, he will discuss his experience producing live broadcasts and share insights from his studio recording career.

Additional free events this spring include “Spotlight on Music” performances featuring CCM faculty and students on March 26 and April 21 at 12:30 p.m. The college will also host a “Spring Music Concert” on April 24 at 7:30 p.m., showcasing the CCM Chamber Choir, Wind Ensemble and Jazz Ensemble.

A “Dance Theatre Showcase” featuring original student choreography is scheduled for May 1 at 12:30 p.m., followed by an “Electronic Music Showcase” highlighting student work in music production and sound design on May 5 at 12:30 p.m.

Most performances will take place in Dragonetti Auditorium in the Student Community Center, with the electronic music event held in the Black Box Theatre.

All events are open to the public at no cost. County College of Morris is located at 214 Center Grove Road in Randolph.
