FRANKLIN TOWNSHIP, N.J. (Hunterdon County) — Hunterdon County Commissioner Deputy Director Jeff Kuhl visited the county’s Communications Center to recognize 911 dispatchers during National Public Safety Telecommunicators Week, observed April 12 through April 18.

As part of the visit, Kuhl provided lunch for staff as a gesture of appreciation for their service and commitment to public safety.

“National Public Safety Telecommunicators Week is an important time to recognize the men and women who serve as the first point of contact during emergencies,” said Commissioner Kuhl. “Their professionalism, focus, and ability to respond in critical moments play a vital role in protecting our community.”

During the visit, Kuhl toured the Communications Center and received an overview of operations supporting emergency response throughout the county. Division Head of Communications Patrick Horsch highlighted the technology used to manage emergency calls and coordinate with first responders, as well as upgrades completed in 2024 that have improved response capabilities.

Kuhl also spoke with dispatchers about their experiences and observed a simulated 911 call, gaining insight into the fast-paced environment in which they work.

“These professionals handle some of the most critical moments people will ever face,” Kuhl added. “Seeing their work up close underscores the level of skill and dedication required for this role.”

The Hunterdon County Communications Center coordinates emergency services across the county, ensuring police, fire and EMS personnel receive timely and accurate information when responding to calls.
