Congressman Kean hosts annual Eagle Scout Award Event

BERNARDSVILLE, NJ (Somerset County) – Congressman Tom Kean, Jr. (NJ-07) Friday held his second annual Eagle Scout Award Event ceremony.

Scouts from New Jersey’s 7th Congressional District who have achieved or will achieve the rank of Eagle Scout between July 2023 and the end of 2024 were invited to attend.

Additionally, parents, Scoutmasters and other adult scout leaders from across the district were also welcomed to join the celebration with their Scouts.

An Eagle Scout title is the highest rank attainable in the Boy Scouts of America organization. To become an Eagle Scout, one must earn a total of 21 merit badges and demonstrate Scout spirit, service, and leadership. This includes an extensive service project that scouts plan, organize, lead, and manage.

“I am incredibly impressed by the talent and dedication of the Eagle Scouts in our district,” Kean said. “Earning the title of Eagle Scout is no easy feat, and these young adults have every reason to be proud of their achievement. They are natural leaders with bright futures ahead of them. Congratulations to all the Eagle Scouts!”

“This is a really nice event,” said Lily Harness of Summit. “It’s great to see others in the community and meet other scouts. Thank you, Congressman Kean, for hosting this event.”

“This is a great way for all Eagle Scouts and upcoming Eagle Scouts to come together as a family and join together for one cause,” said Akash Gopal of Budd Lake. “It was great how Congressman Kean acknowledged my Eagle project and all the other Eagle Scouts.”

The event honored 17 Eagle Scouts who represented all six counties in New Jersey’s 7th Congressional District. More than 50 people attended this event, including parents, grandparents, siblings, and adult scout leaders.
