County College of Morris Legacy Project announces fall 2025 lineup

RANDOLPH TOWNSHIP, N.J. (Morris County) — The Legacy Project at County College of Morris (CCM) is returning for its 13th year this fall with a lineup of free public events featuring distinguished scholars, journalists, and authors who will explore pressing global issues, personal narratives, and nonfiction literature.

The series begins on Wednesday, October 1, at 6 p.m., with Dr. Emily Cornelius Ruhs, research scientist at the Field Museum of Natural History at the University of Chicago. Ruhs will deliver a Zoom lecture titled “Globalization and Wildlife Disease.” To receive the Zoom link, attendees can email The Legacy Project at legacy@ccm.edu.

On Thursday, November 13, at 12:30 p.m., Dr. Shanna Jean-Baptiste, assistant professor in the Department of French at Rutgers University–New Brunswick, will present “The Global Jim Crow South.” That program will be held on campus in the Learning Resource Center, Room 121.

The fall series will conclude on Thursday, December 4, at 12:30 p.m. with a book discussion of “The Moth Presents: A Point of Beauty.” Part of CCM’s One Book, One College initiative led by the School of Liberal Arts, the event will take place in the Learning Resource Café on the second floor of the Learning Resource Center. Light refreshments will be served.

The Legacy Project at CCM is an interdisciplinary initiative that presents engaging lectures for students, faculty, staff, and the wider community. It is designed to expand understanding of significant social and global issues beyond the traditional classroom setting.
