Warren County vote-by-mail ballots to be processed as normal amid ongoing litigation

WARREN COUNTY, N.J. — Warren County will continue processing vote-by-mail ballots for the Nov. 3 general election in accordance with New Jersey law as the state remains in litigation with the federal government, according to Warren County Clerk Holly Mackey.

In an Aug. 25 update, Mackey said there are currently no changes being made to New Jersey’s vote-by-mail program and her office is proceeding as normal in response to the current Supreme Court decision.

“The State is currently in litigation with the Federal government, and at this time no one knows what the outcome will be,” Mackey said.

Vote-by-mail ballots are required to be placed in the mail no later than Sept. 19, according to Mackey.

Voters who are not comfortable receiving a vote-by-mail ballot at this time may opt out by emailing hmackey@co.warren.nj.us and providing their full name, address and date of birth. Requests to opt out must be submitted no later than Sept. 2.

Those who opt out will receive confirmation that they will no longer receive a vote-by-mail ballot and may instead vote early or at their polling place Nov. 3. Voters may receive vote-by-mail ballots in the future by submitting a new application.

For those who continue to receive a vote-by-mail ballot, Mackey strongly recommends placing the completed ballot in the mail at least seven days before Nov. 3 or using a secure ballot drop box.

Drop box locations are available at warrencountyvotes.com and will also be included in voters’ vote-by-mail instruction letters and sample ballots.
