County College of Morris, Morristown High School mark first year of AIMTec manufacturing program
RANDOLPH TOWNSHIP, N.J. (Morris County) — County College of Morris (CCM), in partnership with Morristown High School, has successfully completed the inaugural year of AIMTec: Advanced Integrated Manufacturing Technologies, a program designed to prepare high school seniors for immediate entry into the modern manufacturing workforce or for engineering studies at CCM.
Sixteen Morristown High School seniors enrolled in and completed the year-long program. The students spent half of each school day at CCM’s Advanced Manufacturing and Engineering Center, where they received hands-on training in manual machining, CNC operation and programming, and the integration of Universal Robots into manufacturing systems.
By spring, students could choose an elective in pneumatics, hydraulics or welding. All graduates earned at least six industry-recognized certifications, with some earning as many as 10. Graduates are now positioned for employment with CCM’s industry partners or further study in engineering at the college.
“We are excited to see our AIMTec students carry forward what they’ve learned here at the Center for Workforce Development at CCM,” said Alexandra Hoffmann, director of workforce development and community partnerships at CCM. “They’ve built real-world skills, gained industry-recognized credentials, and opened doors that many people don’t even realize exist.”
The program also included career readiness activities such as employer site visits and job interviews with local manufacturers.
“We are incredibly grateful to the instructors and administration at CCM for providing our students with this amazing opportunity,” said Mark Manning, principal of Morristown High School. “The hands-on training that our students received, combined with the industry-recognized certifications they earned, has prepared them to seek meaningful employment that will ensure a family-sustaining wage.”
Following the program’s initial success, AIMTec will expand next year to include students from additional high schools across the region.
