County College of Morris nursing director named 2025 Health Care Hero by NJBIZ for education leadership

RANDOLPH TOWNSHIP, N.J. (Morris County) — County College of Morris (CCM) proudly announced that Dr. Eleni Pellazgu, director of nursing, has been named a 2025 Health Care Heroes Honoree by NJBIZ in the Education Hero category.

The annual award honors individuals and organizations across New Jersey who demonstrate excellence, innovation, and dedication to improving health care in the state.

Pellazgu, PhD, DNP, APN, FNP-C, NEA-BC, CNE, was recognized for her outstanding contributions to health education and her role in shaping future generations of nurses through her leadership in CCM’s School of Health Professions and Natural Sciences. More than 5,000 students have graduated from the college’s nursing program, many of whom have gone on to high-demand careers in medical-surgical, critical care, obstetrics, psychiatry, pediatrics, and other specialties.

“I am truly honored to receive the NJBIZ Health Care Hero Award,” said Pellazgu. “As a nurse and educator, this recognition means so much. It celebrates not just the care we provide, but the knowledge we pass on to the students. I share this award with my students, colleagues, and patients, who inspire me every day to lead with compassion, teach with purpose, and advocate for excellence in nursing.”

In addition to her role at CCM, Pellazgu also serves as a nurse practitioner for Atlantic Health.

The 2025 Health Care Heroes honorees will be celebrated at an in-person awards ceremony on Tuesday, June 24, 2025, at The Palace at Somerset Park in Somerset. Tickets are available through June 19 at njbiz.com/njbiz-health-care-heroes-2025.

The Associate of Applied Science degree in Nursing at CCM ranks in the top 10% of associate degree nursing programs nationally, according to College Factual. The program boasts a 100% first-time NCLEX-RN pass rate for its last two graduating cohorts.
