County College of Morris opens Center for Entrepreneurship & Culinary Science
RANDOLPH TOWNSHIP, N.J. (Morris County) — County College of Morris marked the opening of its new Center for Entrepreneurship & Culinary Science with a ribbon-cutting ceremony, highlighting a partnership aimed at expanding business and culinary education while supporting local economic development.
The new center, known as CECS, was developed through collaboration between the college, the Morris County Chamber of Commerce and local businesses. Officials said the facility will offer expanded programs in business and culinary science and provide resources for students, entrepreneurs and community members interested in starting or growing businesses.
College officials said the center is designed to create new opportunities for workforce development and entrepreneurship in Morris County and surrounding areas.
“Students at CCM don’t just receive an extraordinary education, they gain real insight from world-class leaders working in their fields,” said Dr. Anthony Iacono, president of County College of Morris. “That kind of experience prepares them for opportunity and helps ensure our workforce remains strong and competitive.”
The event also recognized a donation from Tom Pepe, former chair of the CCM Board of Trustees, and his wife Donna Pepe, the board’s current treasurer. In honor of their contribution and longtime support of the college, CCM unveiled the Tom & Donna Pepe Pavilion, a large event space located within the new center.
State Sen. Anthony M. Bucco said community colleges play a key role in helping students move directly into careers.
“The opportunities that students have here at County College of Morris are ones they often don’t get at four-year universities — opportunities to launch into career paths,” Bucco said.
Aaron Fichtner, president of the New Jersey Council of County Colleges, said community colleges statewide play a significant role in the state’s economy.
“Innovations like the one we celebrate today help strengthen the workforce and the economy,” Fichtner said, noting that community colleges support thousands of jobs across New Jersey.
College officials said the new center will serve as a hub for education, business development and community engagement, helping connect students and entrepreneurs with industry leaders and real-world training opportunities.
