CPSC announces multiple recalls, citing suffocation, poisoning, magnet and fire hazards

WASHINGTON, D.C. — The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) has announced a slate of consumer product recalls involving items sold online, warning of hazards that include infant suffocation, child poisoning, magnet ingestion and potential fires.

Hazard: The recalled baby gyms violate the mandatory safety standard for infant support cushions because the floor mats can obstruct an infant’s breathing, posing a serious risk of injury or deadly suffocation hazard.

Remedy: Consumers should immediately stop using the baby gyms and contact Mikario Trading for a full refund. Consumers should remove the toy bar, cut the cushion in half and send a photo of the destroyed gyms to mikariorecall@gmail.com.

Iristar Minoxidil Spray Bottles for Hair and Beard Growth Recalled Due to Risk of Serious Injury or Death from Child Poisoning; Violates Mandatory Standard for Child-Resistant Packaging; Sold on Amazon by Moralowen

Hazard: The recalled spray bottles contain minoxidil, which must be in child-resistant packaging as required by the Poison Prevention Packaging Act. The packaging is not child-resistant, posing a risk of serious injury or death from poisoning if the contents are swallowed by young children.

Remedy: Consumers should immediately secure the recalled spray bottles out of sight and reach of children and contact Moralowen for a free replacement bottle with a child-resistant closure. Consumers are instructed to transfer the contents of the recalled bottle into the new child-resistant bottle. Once the product is transferred, consumers can continue to use the product as directed.

Aborder Products Recalls Cumbor Retractable Safety Gates Due to Risk of Serious Injury or Death to Children from Entrapment; Violates Mandatory Standard for Gates and Enclosures

Hazard: The recalled gates violate the mandatory standard for expansion gates and expandable enclosures because a child’s torso can fit through the opening between the gate and the floor, posing a risk of serious injury or death due to entrapment.

Remedy: Consumers should immediately stop using the recalled gates and contact Aborder Products for a full refund. Consumers must destroy the gate by cutting through the mesh and send a photo of the destroyed gate to recall@cumbor.cn.

Vndueey Magnetic Men Toy Sets Recalled Due to Risk of Serious Injury or Death from Magnet Ingestion; Violates Mandatory Standard for Toys

Hazard: The recalled magnetic stick figure toy sets violate the mandatory standard for toys because the sets contain loose magnets, posing an ingestion hazard to children. When high-powered magnets are swallowed, they can attract each other, or other metal objects, and become lodged in the digestive system. This can result in perforations, twisting, and/or blockage of the intestines, blood poisoning and death.

Remedy: Consumers should immediately stop using the recalled magnetic toy sets, keep them away from children and contact Vndueey for a full refund. Consumers should destroy the lighters by pulling out the black adjuster knob on the top of the product, then contact BCLighterService@outlook.com and submit a photo of proof of destruction to receive a full refund. When high-powered magnets are swallowed, the ingested magnets can attract each other, or other metal objects, and become lodged in the digestive system. This can result in perforations, twisting and/or blockage of the intestines, blood poisoning and death.

Remedy: Consumers should immediately stop using the recalled toys, take them away from children and contact Brandworl.USA for a full refund. Consumers should destroy the toy by writing “RECALLED” with permanent marker on each piece of the toy and send a photo of the destroyed toy to Brandworl@gmail.com. Consumers should then dispose of the recalled toy.

Hazard: The recalled teething toys violate the mandatory standard for toys because the silicone strings are smaller than permitted. The silicone strings can reach the back of the throat and become lodged, posing a risk of respiratory distress, serious choking hazard and death.

Remedy: Consumers should stop using the teething toy immediately, take it away from children and contact Longyanguiheng to receive a full refund. Consumers should cut and discard all silicone string tentacles, write “DESTROYED” on the main body of the toy using a permanent marker, and email a photograph of the destroyed product to yetonamr_recall@163.com.

Johnson Health Tech Expands Recall to Include Matrix Retail and Vision Treadmills Due to Fire Hazard

Hazard: The power cord can become loose from the treadmill’s power socket, posing a fire hazard.

Remedy: Consumers should inspect their treadmills to confirm whether they have a power cord bracket installed on the unit.  If there is no power cord bracket, consumers should ensure that the power cord is completely inserted into the treadmill’s power socket before each use, until the treadmill is repaired. Consumers should contact Johnson Health Tech North America to receive a free replacement power cord with an automatic locking-style plug by mail for self-installation. To facilitate consumer participation in this recall, the installation of the replacement power cord does not require any tools.
