Crash in Morris County leads to drug, DWI charges

DENVILLE TOWNSHIP, NJ (Morris County) – A Morris County woman was arrested on Saturday following a motor vehicle crash in Denville Township.

On Sept. 14, police responded to the area of Righter Avenue for the reported motor vehicle crash. During the investigation, Maureen S. Beekman, 60, of Denville Township was determined to be one of the drivers involved in the crash, police said.

It was further determined that Beekman appeared to be under the influence of liquor and or drugs. Field sobriety tests were then completed on Beekman, which she allegedly failed, police said.

Beekman was then arrested and found to be in possession of prescription pills without having the proper prescription, police said.

Beekman was charged with possession of CDS, possession of CDS in a motor vehicle, reckless driving, careless driving, careless driving causing property damage, consuming an alcoholic beverage inside a motor vehicle. She was released into the custody of a friend, pending a court appearance, police said.
