Crews extinguish Hunterdon County house fire; no injuries reported
UNION TOWNSHIP, N.J. (Hunterdon County) — Firefighters from multiple Hunterdon County departments quickly knocked down a structure fire Monday night on Finn Road in Union Township, preventing further damage and avoiding injuries, authorities said.
The Quakertown Fire Company was dispatched at 6:43 p.m. to a reported structure fire. An engine from Quakertown arrived first within seven minutes and stretched a handline to a second-floor bedroom, where crews located and extinguished the main body of the fire.
Additional units assisted with water supply, overhaul and checking for fire extension, while ventilation and utility operations were handled by mutual aid crews. Firefighters confirmed the blaze was contained to the affected area of the home.
Ambulances from Quakertown and Pattenburg were on scene to provide emergency medical standby and evaluated residents, but no injuries were reported, officials said.
Several neighboring departments responded or assisted during the incident, and additional apparatus were placed in service to ensure coverage while crews operated at the scene.
The New Jersey State Police and the Hunterdon County Fire Coordinator also assisted at the scene. Fire officials thanked mutual aid departments for their response and support.
The cause of the fire was not immediately released.
