Crews quickly contain building fire at Bridgewater Sports Arena

BRIDGEWATER TOWNSHIP, N.J. (Somerset County) — Firefighters from multiple departments responded to a building fire at the Bridgewater Sports Arena on Saturday, July 12, where they quickly brought the flames under control within 30 minutes, officials said.

The Finderne Fire Department was dispatched to the scene around 11:40 a.m. Upon arrival and due to the primary tower apparatus being out of service, command requested mutual aid from Green Knoll, which responded with its tower unit. A second alarm was transmitted shortly thereafter, summoning additional resources to assist with the blaze.

Crews from Martinsville, Raritan, Bound Brook, and Green Knoll joined the operation, along with a Rapid Intervention Crew made up of firefighters from Somerset, Bradley Gardens, and North Branch. Firefighters from South Bound Brook, Manville, Somerville, and Flagtown were staged to provide coverage.

Emergency medical services were provided by Finderne and Manville Rescue Squads. No injuries were reported, and the cause of the fire remains under investigation.
