Daytime detours set for New Jersey-bound traffic at New Hope-Lambertville Bridge

LAMBERTVILLE, N.J. (Hunterdon County) — New Jersey-bound traffic on the New Hope-Lambertville Toll-Supported Bridge will be detoured during daytime hours on weekdays for up to two weeks starting Monday, Sept. 15, the Delaware River Joint Toll Bridge Commission announced.

The bridge, which links the commercial centers of Lambertville, N.J., and New Hope, Pa., will remain open at all times to Pennsylvania-bound vehicles, which pay tolls at the nearby Route 202 toll bridge. The pedestrian walkway will also remain open. Two-way traffic will be restored during nighttime hours and on weekends.

The travel restriction will be in place from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. on weekdays, Sept. 15-19 and Sept. 22-26. Detoured traffic will be redirected to the non-tolled northbound lanes of the New Hope-Lambertville (Route 202) Toll Bridge for access into New Jersey.

Officials said the closure is needed for the installation of a temporary under-bridge platform that will be used to inspect and potentially adjust, service or repair electrical-supply components. The work requires closing the upstream travel lane, shifting Pennsylvania-bound traffic into the downstream lane normally used by New Jersey-bound vehicles.

Keeping Pennsylvania-bound traffic open at the toll-supported bridge will allow drivers to avoid using the tolled Route 202 bridge.
