Disabled vehicle on I-287 in Morris County leads to two arrests

HANOVER TOWNSHIP, NJ (Morris County) — A disabled vehicle led to two arrests last month in Hanover Township, according to police.

On April 21, an officer came upon a disabled vehicle on Interstate 287 and stopped to assist.

The officer determined that Amanda Jones, 38, of Netcong Borough, was allegedly driving the vehicle under the influence and placed her under arrest, police said.

During a search of the vehicle, police located items of drug paraphernalia. Juan Ramirez, 29, of Kearny, allegedly admitted the items were his and was subsequently arrested. Additional drug-related items were also found on his person, police said.

Jones was charged with driving while intoxicated, possession of a controlled dangerous substance (CDS) in a motor vehicle, reckless driving, and additional traffic offenses. She was also charged with possession of drug paraphernalia and released with a court date, police said.

Ramirez was charged with possession of drug paraphernalia and lodged in the Morris County Jail, police said.
