Driver charged with DWI after being found in Morris County repair shop parking lot with flat tire

MOUNT OLIVE TOWNSHIP, NJ (Morris County) – A driver was charged with DWI after being found in a Mount Olive Township repair shop parking lot with a flat tire.

On Sept. 29, at 3:29 a.m., an officer stopped to investigate a vehicle that was found in the parking lot of Mt. Olive Small Engine Repair, located at 180 Route 46, police said.

As the officer approached the vehicle, he observed a woman standing by the open driver’s side door. The woman, identified as Melissa Gordon, 47, of Hopatcong Borough, advised that she had a flat tire, police said.

While speaking with Gordon, the officer detected the odor of an alcoholic beverage and noted that she allegedly appeared to be impaired. Another officer arrived to assist, and she was asked to perform field sobriety tests, police said.

Gordon was subsequently arrested and charged with DWI and reckless driving. She was released to a sober driver pending a court appearance, police said.
