MOUNT OLIVE TOWNSHIP, N.J. (Morris County) — A Warren County man was charged with driving while intoxicated and multiple other offenses following a motor vehicle crash on Route 46 that injured two juveniles, police said.
Police said the crash occurred Dec. 24 at about 6:15 p.m. in the area of the Budd Lake Office Plaza on Route 46.
A preliminary investigation determined that a gray Jeep attempted to make a left turn into the parking lot and entered the path of a white Ford traveling westbound, causing the collision.
Two juveniles who were in the Ford sustained minor injuries and were transported to Morristown Medical Center for evaluation, police said.
The driver of the Jeep was identified as Daniel S. Kurylo, 39, of Port Murray. Police said officers detected the odor of an alcoholic beverage and observed signs of impairment. He was asked to exit the vehicle for field sobriety testing and was subsequently placed under arrest.
Kurylo was transported to police headquarters and charged with assault by auto, driving while intoxicated, reckless driving, consumption of an alcoholic beverage in a motor vehicle, open container of alcohol in a motor vehicle, failure to yield the right of way, improper turn at a traffic signal and operating an unregistered motor vehicle.
He was released to a sober driver pending a court appearance, police said.
