UPDATE: Authorities ID driver killed after rear-ending garbage truck in Morris County

MOUNT OLIVE TOWNSHIP, NJ (Morris County) – A 57-year-old man was killed Wednesday after rear-ending a garbage truck in Mount Olive Township, according to Morris County Prosecutor’s Office Public Information Officer Meghan Knab.

At around 5:45 a.m. on Dec. 18, a vehicle collided with a garbage truck on Route 206, Knab said.

The driver of the vehicle, who was identified as Peter Janke, Jr., 57, of Chester, was pronounced dead at the scene, Knab said.

The driver of the garbage truck was unharmed, and there were no passengers in either vehicle, Knab said.

The crash remains under investigation by the Morris County Prosecutor’s Office Vehicular Homicide Task Force, the Morris County Sheriff’s Office, and the Mount Olive Police Department.
