E. Louise Childs Branch of the Sussex County Library System to close Sept. 22–Oct. 4 for renovations
STANHOPE BOROUGH, N.J. (Sussex County) — The E. Louise Childs Branch of the Sussex County Library System will temporarily close later this month for renovations to replace interior flooring, officials announced.
The branch will close Monday, Sept. 22, and is expected to reopen to the public on Monday, Oct. 6, 2025.
Bookdrops at the branch and at the Hopatcong Municipal Building, 111 River Styx Road, will remain open and be emptied daily during construction. Patrons with hold requests will be contacted to arrange alternate pickup locations or to extend their holds until the branch reopens. The library’s Dot Mobile unit will also make community visits, including a stop at the Stanhope Fall Festival on Saturday, Sept. 27.
Residents are encouraged to use one of the county’s five nearby branches, including the Dennis Branch in Newton and the Franklin Branch in Franklin. Library cardholders can also continue to access digital resources, including eBooks, audiobooks, and magazines, through the library’s website and online platforms.
